The LFA and the CHSA have met
twice during the summer regarding the new collective bargaining
agreement. It should not come as a surprise that as of Sept. 1st
2007 we have yet to receive an economic proposal from the CHSA.
For whatever reason, the CHSA finds it beneficial to open a school
year without teachers having a contract in place. With school
tuition being set in the early part of the year, these
negotiations should be resolved before the new school year starts.
We are scheduled to meet again on Sept.
11th, 2007 and receive an economic proposal from the CHSA. If
the meeting results in no proposal, we will immediately file a
charge with the N.Y. labor board for failure to negotiate.
We have scheduled our first general membership
meeting for SEPTEMBER 18TH 2007 AT 5:00 P.M. AT THE POLISH
COMMUNITY CENTER IN YONKERS. We have asked our delegates to
wait until our Sept. meeting before giving information about the
meeting to our members. We want to avoid all possible
misunderstandings and misinterpretations within the schools that
may prove detrimental to the negotiations. We will provide members
with a complete update on the status of the negotiations for each
item outlined in our proposal. The Executive Board feels that
members should attend the meeting and voice their opinions about
the state of negotiations. Please make every effort to attend.
We look forward to seeing you and your entire faculty on Sept.
18th.
THE EXECUTIVE BOARD LFA, LIUNA
